Power lines run through almost every operating area on earth, carrying more energy than any unit could burn. Kestrel turns any line into a charging point.

Continuous power

Drawn from the grid day and night, in any weather. Not dependent on sun, wind, or resupply.

No fuel, no signature

No generator noise, heat, or exhaust. One month on station replaces a 2 kW generator and about 240 gallons of fuel.

No contact with the wire

Energy is drawn from the magnetic field around the conductor at a controlled standoff. The line keeps operating exactly as before.

01 / Perch

Kestrel perches on a live line.

A pilot flies it onto the wire and it clamps on, like a bird. Once perched, it uses no flight power.

02 / Harvest

Magline draws energy from the field around the wire.

A coil inside the magnetic field produces current. No cutting, no tapping, no contact. The same induction principle as a wireless phone charger or a grid transformer.

03 / Deliver

Power flows down a tether to the ground.

A ground station receives the power and charges whatever you connect. Batteries, comms, sensors, equipment.

Starlink and C2 equipment,
recharged from the line

Chariot Defense's Amphora is a silent field battery. Refilling it takes a generator, a vehicle, or the sun.

Kestrel refills it from the power line, on its native 24 V DC input. Perched at 10 ft standoff on a 120 V, 100 A line, it drew 18 W down the tether and kept four loads running.

Spark E: the aircraft that recharges itself

Spark E carries its battery to the line, recharges while perched, and flies on. No tether, no return to base. Every power line on its route becomes a charging station.

For long range missions over large areas: inspection, mapping, persistent observation.

Is it dangerous to operate next to high voltage lines?
Working near energized lines is a serious risk and we treat it as one. The platform never touches the conductor: energy is drawn from the magnetic field around the wire at a controlled standoff. A formal safety case is part of the development program.
Does it damage or tap the line?
No. There is no cutting, no splicing, and no physical contact with the conductor. The line keeps operating exactly as before.
How much power does it deliver?
18 W drawn down from a 120 V, 100 A line at 10 ft standoff, demonstrated at Camp Roberts in August 2026, running a Starlink terminal, EO camera, passive radar, and battery charging.
